WIROM GAS S.A., founded in 1994, is a joint venture between WIEE (51%) and DISTRIGAZ SUD S.A. (49%). WIROM has distribution licenses for Turnu Magurele, Alexandria, Oltenita and Giurgiu. A new gas distribution system has already been built in Turnu Magurele and Alexandria where natural gas is now being supplied to households and industry. Natural gas began flowing to Turnu Magurele in October 2004 and to Alexandria in July 2005. First gas supplies for Oltenitia started in December 2005 and to Giurgiu in April 2008.
